Ori is a local Geek, that I’m attempting to get to come to GeekUp.
Which would be easier if his house wasn’t falling down. To say he’s
having a rough time of it is an understatement.
In an attempt to raise some much needed cash, he’s doing some extra
promotional work for his book, Sir Parsley and the Dragon (available
from all good Lulu, Amazon and Barnes and Noble). This is not a cap
in hand, this is an enterprising response to a problem. He has the
company of a local reporter this morning to discuss the book and the
house.
How can you help?
1) Read the website, understand what’s going on :: http://www.booksforbricks.com/
2) Buy a copy of the book. Everyone’s got a kid somewhere in their
life. If not, you’re a Geek, and therefore a kid at heart. Either
way, buy a copy of the book, it’s not much cash.
3) And this is the important bit – BLOG, TWITTER AND SHOUT about the
book and the site as much as you possibly can. The more people that
see it, the more people buy the book, the more funds they can raise to
repair the house.
Yes there’s insurance, but due to various reasons the surveyor, the
insurance company and the water company (read the site) are playing a
game of pass the liability. The music will stop and someone will be
left without a seat, but until then this work needs to be done and it
needs paying for. Once all the legal dust has settled, any leftover
funds will be donated to Shelter.
