I collect media, Music, TV Shows, Music Videos pretty much anything, any DVD’s, CD’s or Hell VHS gets encoded digitally not to mention the stuff we download (all creative commons of course!)..
The problem is, I get quite annoyed with media libraries and things like that when they only pick up half of the tv show’s we have, because the naming format of the files changed half way through the season.
the problem comes when you have 70+ tv shows, 4000 episodes, a tonne of music and lots of films… organising them all so that XMBC and others… will read it..
To be honest… I would be more than happy to spend the weekend renaming files so that everything was nice and pretty and worked well but I’ve got quite a bit to do and heather would kill me.
So I had a look around and found this pretty cool (open source) program
http://code.google.com/p/mediarenamer/
This connects to resources such as IMDB, The TV DB and other fun things to rename the files with the tv show title in the start.
its a cracking program that also does movies… nuff said!
(I did about 3500 files in a few hours)

I hate trying to rename files, I just don’t have the patience for it and never end up doing it, might have to give this a try, anything to automate a process like this must be good!
