Readers, lend me your ideas!

June 29th, 2009

so today, I confirmed the aquisition of the domain name hodge.it, i’m very happy about this but there seems to be a problem, I have no idea what to do with it… the obvious use is a url shorterner much like timnash.eu but that seems a little… useful for such a cool domain..

One suggestion on twitter was an overlay of sites with a big grinning hodge, which I liked but to be honest.. I’m worryed someone would hodge a BNP website or similar and it would be like I approved that sort of thing..

The best idea wins a pint of local ale AT a leeds local pub.

Hmm, Hodge.it eh? How about a site of shameless giftware, but you get to choose whatever you want to ‘Hodge’ – I’ll take a nightgown, cap and matching slippers please.

well I think to hodge something is to drop it into a pint or down the loo, or into an otherwise inappropriate body of liquid (yep that’s the official definition of the verb to hodge, well it is now) so I think you should see what happens when you hodge things and blog about them.

Could be the equivalent of tangoing things. You could find a gimmick, buy a cape and then video yourself doing a mixture of tangoman/jeremy beadle style stunts. Put them on your new site with the slogan ‘Have you been Hodged?’. Obviously a picture of you in your leotard holding a pint would be an ideal image to go with the slogan!

Create your own language and translate whatever visitors want into “Hodgespeak”. Doesn’t even have to be a complete language, just a weird accenty version like Pirate speak :D

There was me thinking ‘it = Informed and Thoughtful’ when all suggestions seem to infer ‘Instant Transformation’!

Not that there’s anything wrong with the instant idea, I suspect most of us have cause to wish for that happening in some form or another most days. Reality does seem to have such a long time lag don’t you find?
