I’ve been using xbmc for a few years, considering you can get an xbox for around 20quid and the software is free… its a fantastic buy and well worth the money
Sadly the hardware is a couple of years old and with the latest atlantis update, there will be no further xbox development. no worries because Caius has an old mac mini we wernt really using…..so after buying a vga to scart convertor and setting the mac mini up we were ready to rock and roll… ah..
Turns out it doesn’t work so well on the old ppc mac minis infact it turns out it doesn’t work at all. neither does boxee or any of the other decent media centers,
so short of putting a bounty up for someone to recode xmbc for the ppc processor, I’m left begging on this blog for recommendations?

Not got any more old hardware lying around? Or maybe you could find something cheap on eBay?
Stick Debian on it with a nice lightweight wm. Then you can put any media centre on it you want.
I guess the Quicksilver is outdated too?
Go the whole hog and go down the Myth TV route, Linux on PPC is well supported and indeed there are dedicated myth tv distros for ppc arch if your to chicken to do it yourself.
I have a 1Ghz PPC, 1GB Ram mac mini that’s my main media center. Yes, it’s a bit sad that boxee doesn’t work, but I think we need to spam the XBMC guys to compile their stuff for PPC one day.
