I mostly like getting the train, I think if the seats were a little more roomy (and first class wasn’t so expensive, infact if the whole thing wasn’t so expensive), I do meet some interesting people and its quite a relaxing time..

Today I went golfing with from friends, its something I’ve never done before and it was quite enjoyable however the journey over was quite interesting.

Leeds to London and I was getting off at Doncaster (thanks to Dr. Tim for the lift the rest of the way) Most of the seats were reserved but the carriage was empty apart from 3 people.

I sit on a table seat and we set off from Leeds, a couple of minutes into the train ride a woman says that shes reserved the seat next to me.. I look around the empty carriage but since I’m getting off in two stops I just move and don’t make a comment.

At this point its worth pointing out that I forgot my headphones..

She notices that I’m using a PC and explains how I should be using a mac because they are so much better, when her and her boyfriend (who was in Barcelona last year (and almost had his iPhone stolen)) switched they found it easy and it really doesn’t crash as often)

I just nodded since I really couldn’t be arsed to argue (that and my space bar had just stopped working on the laptop)

She then pulled out her iphone and started typing a message (with the clicks on quite loud) and mentioned how it was such a good phone (motioning towards my HTC)… I then pulled out my iPhone and said yeah it was pretty good..

She then shut up..

She could see my laptop and among Hacker news and Reddit I loaded up a news site that had something about MP’s expenses (because nothing else happened this week)

She then sighed and said that she was about the only person in england who really didn’t care about the expenses “scandal” and thought that if we just paid them enough in the first place they wouldn’t have to claim it back.

I mentioned that I thought they were paid enough as it is to be honest.

Then she came out with the fact she wouldn’t expect anyone in the north to know just how much it costs to live in london AND another place.

I said that some of us northerners had been down to london and do look at prices

Yes but thats only the touristy bits she replied not REAL london

At the end of the day, they applied for the job, noone forced them into it and they had to REALLY apply and stand for election, they knew what they were getting into and they knew how much it cost, I don’t apply for a job that pays x amount when I know that taking the job means that I’m going to need x+£5k do I?

She gave some waffled answer and then the conversation dropped… I got off the train and went to play golf..

Strange…
